FAQ of YEL 212-207-2F Bearings

  • Generally speaking, insert bearings are standard radial bearings that fit into the housing. Although they are usually sold with the housing, these bearings can also be purchased as a stand-alone product to be used as a replacement. While standard radial ball bearings must be pressed into a machined shaft, with special mounting tools, insert bearings can be fitted directly to the shaft with a sliding fit. However, insert bearings are usually mounted on shafts with bores slightly smaller than the bore diameter of the bearing. This loose fit requires a locking device to hold the bearing firmly in place. The inner ring of the bearing extends to one side to accommodate the locking device. In addition, the width of the inner ring of a housing bearing may vary depending on the type of bearing.

Loads are defined by their direction. Loads perpendicular to the shaft are called radial loads and loads parallel to the shaft are called axial (thrust) loads.

DGBB can carry axial loads in both directions, whereas angular contact ball bearings can only carry axial loads in one direction.
